1981 – Our Lady of Kibeho

More of Mary’s Words

“I am awakening you so that you may collect what you have and purify it.  Prepare yourself for the coming of the one who will come unexpectedly; and do not leave him standing at the front door.  He has a power that surpasses your intelligence and he sees even that which you want to hide from Him,” Our Lady of Kibeho, by Immaculee Illibagiza.

Who did Our Lady appear to?

13 years before the Rwandan genocide, Mary introduced herself as “The Mother of the Word” and “The Mother of God” to the following in order of appearance in 1981-1982:

  1. Alphonsine Mumureke, 17 years old, was the first visionary. Mary continued to appear to her for 8 years.
  2. Anathalie Mukamazimpaka, 20 years old, was the second visionary 2 months later.
  3. Marie Claire Mukangango, 21 years old. She was the biggest challenger to the validity of the appearances of Our Lady. She tortured the first 2 visionaries until Our Lady chose her. Our Lady of Kibeho gave Marie Claire the responsibility of teaching the world the Seven Sorrows Rosary for complete satisfaction of reparations all sins committed against God. Her mission ended with her death on the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, September 15, 1982.
    • 33 visionaries came forward. Formal investigations began in 1982 by theological and medical examinations. “The reports of 3 other girls who claimed to receive the apparitions and one boy who maintained he had visits from Jesus, Sagatashya in Immaculee’s book, The Boy who Met Jesus, were dismissed in the formal investigations (NCRegister.com, “Our Lady of Kibeho”: An Urgent Appeal to the Repentance and Conversion of Hearts.”)
    • It is believed that the Vatican rushed the approval before getting more evidence on the subsequent appearances because of their interest in a priest to be released from prison (previously encarcerated for crime committed in the genocide.) Our Lady still appears to Josepha, one of the first six visionaries. I had the incredible opportunity to witness and film Mary’s apparition the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, August 15, 2020 – the day after the feast day of Saint Maximilian Kolbe, Knight of the Immaculata (a saint God created for our current Time of Mercy.). It was a game changer!! We prayed 15 decades a day plus Seven Sorrows plus The Divine Mercy Chaplet, every day. Since I now know what peace and supernatural assistance honoring Our Lady’s Request gives, I won’t stop fulfilling it until the day I go to Heaven!
    • This experience in Kibeho changed my life forever. Our Lady promised that our rosaries are working! She said that we are in the scourge of the Church. Our Lady of Kibeho said on August 15, 2020 that we believers are experiencing the grueling Passion with Jesus again – it is the labor pains of His kingdom born on Earth. Jesus needs our help with prayers to console His Sacred Heart and Mary’s Immaculate Heart; and, to quench his “thirst for souls”- (words of Saint Mother Theresa.) “Give me an army saying the Rosary and I will conquer the world.” – Blessed Pope Pius IX

How did the witness describe Our Lady’s appearance?

Alphonsine said, “Our Lady of Kibeho is always bathed in soft light wearing a dress that must have been made by angels because it is seamless.  Her skin shines like polished ivory, but it wasn’t white like we see in pictures.  She wasn’t black either…she wasn’t black or white.”

What was Mary’s message?

The Virgin Mary warned that if Rwandans did not cleanse their hearts of hatred through praying the Most Holy Rosary and Seven Sorrows Rosary, which will fill their souls with God’s love, evil would win out and a genocide would sweep across the land. The genocide wiped out 1 million lives in one month. Praying the rosary saved Immaculee’s and six other women’s lives in a small bathroom for 91 days. God hears our pleas through the rosary. I can attest to that personally – many times over.

Who approved?

Recognized by the Vatican in 2001, Our Lady of Kibeho is the only Marian apparition site approved by the Catholic Church and Pope Francis on the Africa continent.

Many of us Christians are in a spiritual coma. The author of “Left to Tell”, Immaculee Ilibagiza, speaks about Our Lady of Kibeho & her recent plea to pray the rosary.
Immaculee enlightens us on the message from the spot where Our Lady made her request in Kibeho, Africa starting on November 28, 1981.
Our Lady gave Saint Dominic the Traditional Rosary in the 13th Century. She introduced the Seven Sorrows Rosary in the 14th Century. She re-introduced it in 1954 to a Mother Superior and asked to build the Seven Sorrows Chapel. Our Lady returned in 1981 to re-introduce it again – to prepare and fortify the world before The Rwandan Genocide.
Our Lady appeared to the Mother Superior of the Kibeho order and asked them to build a chapel of the Seven Sorrows. She taught only the Mother Superior the special rosary. Our Lady asked her to teach the nuns; but to reserve teaching the children to Her. Our Lady wanted to be the one to give the present to the children.
Our Lady’s promise
Our Lady said that people will come from all over the world to visit Kibeho and to hear her message that she intended for all of us. She said so.

1932 – Our Lady of the Golden Heart

On November 29, 1932, Our Lady appeared to five children in Beauraing, Belgium.  The children were Frenande Voisin, 15; Albert Voisin, 11; Gilberte Voisin, 13; Andree Degeimbre, 14; and Gilberte Degeimbre, 14.  Our Lady appeared to them 33 times over 5 weeks, with the last apparition occurring on January 3, 1933.  This timeframe was shortly after the end of World War I and during the Great Depression.  Our Lady identified herself as “the Immaculate Virgin”.  She was greatly illuminated and appeared to be walking on a cloud.  She wore a long white dress, a white veil, and a golden crown of light.  On December 29th, Our Lady opened her arms and revealed a brilliant golden heart.  Bright rays of golden light shone from her golden heart.

During Our Lady’s first 3 apparitions, she said nothing to the children.  She just looked at them and smiled.  Thereafter, her messages were simple but profound.  “Always be good … Pray very much … I am the Queen of Heaven and the Mother of God, pray always … Sacrifice yourself for me … I shall convert the sinners”.  She gave the children secret messages as well.  Initially, the local people, including the children’s parents and the parish priest, were skeptical and accused the children of lying.  But many miraculous healings of body, mind and soul occurred during those months and in subsequent years.  In 1943, Bishop Charue of Namur authorized public devotions to Our Lady of Beauraing.  On July 18, 1947, the Bishop received papal blessings for the Sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Beauraing.  Final approval of the authenticity of the apparitions was granted on July 2, 1949.  Our Lady of Beauraing, also known as Virgin with the Golden Heart, is celebrated every year on November 29th.

Fun Facts

*Although it was raining, the ground where the apparition was occuring was dry

*The gable church was covered with a cloud of light.

*There is something else about the circumstances of the apparition that is important: prior to its occurrence, Archdeacon Cavanagh, the parish priest, announced to the parishioners his plan to say 100 Masses for the Holy Souls in Purgatory whom Our Lady wished to release. The last of these 100 Masses was offered less than a week before the apparition occurred. This is considered deeply significant by many people.

Who did Our Lady appear to?

Fifteen parishioners, ages 5-75, stood to witness the apparition for two hours in the rain (like later at Fatima,) as they recited the rosary.

What was her message?

In silence, Our Lady, St. Joseph and St. John all exuded a prayerful, penitential and reverential spirit. To the left of Saint John was an altar on which stood a cross and a lamb. Standing only a few feet off the ground.   The miraculous apparition of Mary that was witnessed by the small group of 15 that day rippled through thousands of visitors.

How did the witness describe her appearance?

The Blessed Virgin wore a white cloak and was described by witnesses as being incredibly  beautiful. She wore a bright golden crown.  She appeared to be praying with her eyes looking toward heaven with her arms bent in front of her with her palms facing inward.

Here is the eyewitness testimony of Patrick Hill:

“I distinctly beheld the Blessed Virgin Mary, life size, standing about two feet or so above the ground clothed in white robes which were fastened at the neck.

Her hands were raised to the height of the shoulders, as if in prayer, with the palms facing one another, but slanting inwards towards the face; the palms were not turned towards the people, but facing each other as I have described; she appeared to be praying; her eyes were turned as I saw towards heaven.

She wore a brilliant crown on her head, and over the forehead where the crown filled the brow, a beautiful rose; the crown appeared brilliant, and of a golden brightness, of a deeper hue, inclined to a mellow yellow, than the striking whiteness of the robes she wore; the upper parts of the crown appeared to be a series of sparkles, or glittering crosses.”

[I saw her eyes, the balls, the pupils and the iris of each.]

I noticed her hands especially, and face, her appearance.

The robes came only as far as the ankles; I saw her feet and the ankles; one foot, the right, was slightly in advance of the other.

At times she appeared, and all the figures appeared, to move out and again to go backwards; I saw them move; she did not speak; I went up very near; one old woman went up and embraced the Virgin’s feet., and she found nothing in her arms and hands; they receded, she said, from her.”

Who approved?

The local bishop said the apparition served the faithful by re-substatiating the message of mercy, the Eucharist, the help of the saints, and the designation of Jesus as the sacrificial lamb for us.

Miracles

  • Ten days after the apparition, the first miraculous cure occurred. By 1880, Fr. Cavanagh had recorded over 300 cures. His record of the cures is preserved to this day.

Testimony of a recent pilgrim to the Knock Shrine:”This is my first visit to Knock. I came because my 84 year old mother wanted to come so my wife, my sister and I came with her. I was nonplussed at the idea but have been taken completely by surprise by the wondrous peace that engulfs this magical place. This visit has renewed and strengthened my faith. I leave, I hope, a better person.”
